This is the type of IPA reminiscent of Portland insanity. The aptly named IPA has a strong citrus aroma and hits hard with a bitter bite. And, it is hard like a massive crocodile latching on to its prey. This is not a beer for the faint of heart in the figurative sense but quiet possibly literally as well. From what I've tried of Heart of Darkness so far, that appears to be their thing.
